I’m at a time in my life where I’m figuring out how to live intentionally. I’m trying to live my life in a way that is meaningful, thoughtful, creative, and helps others. Christmas is no exception.
I know, I know it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, but I also know that this is the time of year people start thinking about what they’re going to give this holiday season.
Christmas isn’t about the gifts though, it’s about celebrating Christ.
Christmas is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE time of year. There’s just something so magical about the season.
Christmas is that one time a year when people seem to really come together, hearts are a little lighter, we notice miracles more, traditions occur, memories that last a lifetime are made, loved ones grow a little closer, the list goes on and on.
So again, Christmas isn’t about the gifts, but it does feel pretty dang good to give to others.
This year, I Want People To give gifts with purpose.
I made a list of some companies that are on a mission to give back and have some pretty dang neat stuff.
If you’re going to give gifts, why not give gifts that keep on giving? Don’t worry I’m not talking about glitter :P.
1. Love Your Melon
Love Your Melon is an apparel brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer in America as well as supporting nonprofit organizations who lead the fight against pediatric cancer. Love your Melon donates 50% of the profits to help fund research. Not only will you probably want to purchase literally everything on their site, but to know you’ll be helping children with cancer everywhere is SO COOL! Go on, treat yo self and that special someone in your life. DO IT FOR THE KIDS.
2. DIFF Eyewear
“FOR EVERY PAIR OF GLASSES WE SELL, WE DONATE A PAIR TO SOMEONE IN NEED THROUGH OUR BUY ONE, GIVE ONE PROGRAM.“- DIFF Eyewear. The sunglasses are super cute and cost a fraction of what other name brand companies charge. Plus you help others? Um, #winning. P.S. I recommend checking out “Project” on their website because it’ll warm your heart.
Through your purchases, TOMS helps provide shoes, sight, water, safe birth and
bullying prevention services to people in need.
When you buy shoes: For every one pair of shoes you purchase, TOMS gives another pair to a person in need.
When you buy eyewear: Your TOMS Eyewear purchase helps restore sight to an individual through sight-saving surgery, prescription glasses or medical treatment.
When you buy bags: TOMS Bags purchases provide training for skilled birth attendants and the vital materials needed to help a woman safely give birth. Infection is a leading cause of death among mothers and newborns worldwide so you are helping to save their lives.
When you buy backpacks: In the United States, nearly 1 out of every 3 students reports being a victim of bullying. Purchases of the TOMS High Road Backpack Collection will help provide the training of school staff and crisis counselors to help prevent and respond to instances of bullying.
When you buy coffee: More than 780 million people don’t have access to safe water. TOMS Roasting Co. purchases support water systems in seven countries – in the same regions where we source our coffee beans.
Please let’s not even pretend you need an excuse to drink coffee ;).
With each TELETIES purchase, you help support important research and education in the quest for accurate diagnosis, prevention, and a cure for Lyme disease. Lyme Disease is one of the fastest growing infectious diseases in the US, affecting more people each year than breast cancer, Hepatitis C, or HIV. More than 200 children contract Lyme Disease every day, and has been reported in all 50 states.
Telties are trendy, affordable, AND don’t damage your hair. Telties can also be worn as bracelets and anklets. Talk about accessorizing head to toe.
5. The Freedom Closet

Our mission is to provide the best platform to sell trendy items that the rescued women design and create which gives YOU the ability to actively partner with us to see human trafficking abolished.” You guys GO FOLLOW THEM ON INSTAGRAM. GO BUY THEIR PRODUCTS. Please go read “Thier Freedom Story” on their website. The Freedom Closet is an up and coming brand and I love everything about this company. Go check it out. You won’t regret it.
6. Pura Vida Bracelets
Every Pura Vida Bracelet is handcrafted by artisans in Costa Rica and in addition to donating 1% of their annual revenue to environmental organizations, they’ve also partnered with over 190 charities (donating nearly one-million dollars).
Bracelets range in price from $5 to $15, while styled packed range from $30 to $70.
Check out their “Story” tab on their website because well, it’s amazing.
7. We Wood
For every watch WeWOOD sells, they plant a tree. So far, they’ve planted nearly half a million trees across the globe and they hope to reach their goal of 1 million trees by 2020. Watches range from $55 to $250.
There are so many AMAZING organizations out there that give back. I could sit here and name probably 1,000 more, but I don’t think either of us has time to do that. I hope this blog post inspired you to give with a little more purpose not only for the holiday season, but for every occasion as well.
P.S. If you don’t have anyone to give gifts from the companies that I listed above I will happily accept ;).
